Meet our Director of Operations, Lucinda Lloyd

Not usually one to shout about herself, our Director of Operations, Lucinda (Luci) Lloyd, felt that it was time to share a little more about the personalities behind the JJ&A brand, starting with her own.

I’m not usually one to shout about myself (especially not on social media), preferring to stay in the background.  However, I realise that it’s important to share a little more about the personalities behind the brand.  So here goes…

I grew up with my parents and younger sister in Wimbledon, London. And in 2001 when my parents made the move out of London and moved to Wiltshire, I stayed behind, I qualified as a paediatric nurse in 2003 and started working at St George’s NHS Trust, in Tooting the same year.

In 2008, I met my husband Mike, and in 2015 after the birth of our second daughter we also moved from London to Wiltshire; it’s where we are all based, and I can’t imagine living anywhere else.

On a side note, my daughter Chloe is the fourth-generation eldest daughter in our family! And she is super-close to her Great Grandmother (who we call GGV) who is 94 years of age and lives just down the road from us!

When I’m not working, I am very much a family person. I have two daughters (Emily and Chloe) but still have moments where I can’t quite believe I’m a mum.  Especially as it does not seem that long ago that I was ‘living the dream’ in Sydney in 2005, working as a nurse and having a blast! I learnt very quickly to not work Mondays, because we had way too much fun in the Bondi bars on a Sunday!

As well as being a family person, I’ve always been a dog lover, and 12 years ago, Mike and I rescued a Jack Russell cross called Peanut, who I can only describe as being one in a million! She has been the best little dog, and last year we added to our family and got a puppy Jack Russell, who we named Olive.

Horses are another love of mine, and I was incredibly lucky to grow up with them and my parents committed themselves every possible weekend to take us showing and eventually one day eventing. Once I started university, I realised that I did not have the time to nurse, work, have a social life and keep up with competing so I hung up my riding boots.

However, almost 20 years’ on, my girls are now learning to ride.  They have a pony, (though we call her the ‘unicorn’) Zara, and I’ve taken the opportunity to get back in the saddle myself! At the start of the summer holidays the three of us went on a hack together for the first time in Cornwall, and there were three very happy faces at the end of the ride.

So, there you have it! I have always enjoyed working - whether that’s nursing or running JJ&A - and I love being a mum. Although, that can be incredibly challenging some days as they sure know how to press my buttons! I'm also an animal lover, particularly dogs and horses who I believe are true therapy.

And finally, what’s my idea of heaven?  Long, leisurely lunches with family and friends, with plenty of good food and wine.
